Thompson Pump Aids Seminole Tribe of Florida with Rental Pumps

The Seminole Tribe of Florida recently contracted Thompson Pump to provide a turnkey critical sewer bypass project. Permanent lift station pumps were being replaced and a bypass/re-route of the influent needed to occur for the permanent lift station to be placed back online. Willie Johnson, Service Manager for Thompson Pump's Fort Myers Service Center knew two important items about the sensitivity of the project. The land occupied by the tribe is considered sacred and the bypass would be located deep in the echo sensitive Florida Everglades. Therefore, there could be no possible chance of a sewage spill or blow-by. The pumping system had to be completely contained. Thompson Pump provided the exclusive, environmentalIy-friendly ENVIROPRIME® System which allows the pump to automatically prime while also preventing pumpage, including sewage and other unwanted fluids, from escaping the pump and spilling onto the ground. Thompson is the only pump manufacturer that has designed a no blow-by priming system.

The project scope had 100% of the sewage flowing into a master collection pump station via two separate influent lines intercepted by manholes. Therefore, Thompson Pump set up two separate bypass pump systems to handle approximately 1,000 gpm (gallons-per-minute) per manhole. Each system consisted of two Thompson Pump 4JSC Silent Knight® pumps, heavy-duty suction hose, and flanged high pressure discharge hose. Silent Knight® canopies provided critically reduced noise due to the proximity of nearby homes. The pump system operated via an automatic start/stop floats system to allow for fuel savings. Further, Thompson Pump installed an auto-dialer notification system which, in the event of a failure of any type or simply low fuel, Thompson Pump personnel would be immediately notified by phone and email regarding the specific situation.

Thompson Pump is proud to have accomplished beyond expectations what the Seminole Indian Tribe of Florida had requested, Thompson Pump finished the turnkey rental installation for the Seminole Indian Tribe of Florida ahead of schedule and left the sacred grounds of the reservation clean and undisturbed.
